Best Soups for Kids

Soups are a very good meal-choice for kids. When you cook for younger kids simply use a blender so they do not have to chew on bigger pieces of veggies. Do you have a picky eater at home? Creamy soups may come in handy as your kid does not see pieces of veggies he/she would not normally eat. Soup is really a square meal – rich, full of nutrients and fluids.

When cooking soups for kids, any vegetable, preferably fresh and seasonal, would work. The basic recipe for soup is very simple: sautée the veggies in the butter or in the oil, add water, season to your liking and cook until softened.

Each soup can be blended/pureed if the baby has troubles to chew on bigger pieces of cooked veggies. Be careful of the seasonings you use. Avoid spicy and strong seasonings, such as black pepper or chilli, when cooking for smaller children. When it comes to salt, one pinch is enough.

Recipes for kids

Babies drink mostly milk (breastmilk or formula) up to the age of one. It recommended to introduce the solids when the baby is six months old. You should start with different kinds of veggies. Veggies first, fruit later. Soups are perfect for the transition from milk to solids because of their fluid consistency so they are easy to eat.
